Biography

Award winning actor Aphra Williams has been performing from an early age. Working in film, television, theatre and voice. Aphra is also a singer and a writer. 

Aphra studied theatre at Victoria University, Australia, graduating in 2006. She then moved to Canada in 2008 to take her acting career to the next level. It did not take long for Aphra to begin working incessantly. To name but a few, she was cast in the leading role of ‘Mickey Naruda’ in the feature film ‘A Violent State’ which won ‘Best Film’ at the 2011 Ottawa International Film Festival. Later that year, Aphra won the award for ‘Best Actor’ at the Digi60 International Film Festival for her performance in the award winning short film ‘Moments’. Aphra was also part of the first Canadian theatre company to perform at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in the production of ‘The Crackwalker’, Aphra played the role of Sandy. 

She has also worked on a number national and international advertising campaigns including but not limited to - Purolator, McDonalds, Ottawa Train Yards and most recently, the face for Bell.

Aphra is currently writing a screenplay based on her life and the murder of her grandmother, Margaret Penny in 1991. The screenplay has received great interest from award winning international directors.
